Account Coordinator

The Account Coordinator’s primary role is to provide project support in the development and execution of communications strategies for our clients. A typical week will include a blend of project coordination and logistics, media outreach, research, copy editing, media monitoring and participation in larger team strategy sessions.

You are:

  • A good listener and communicator
  • Naturally curious and eager to take on new challenges and work towards identifying solutions to outstanding issues
  • Able to participate constructively, attentively and respectfully in team meetings and group assignments
  • Obsessed with the latest internet meme, what makes it so popular and how a client might ride its wave
  • Able to pitch and secure media placements while being an avid consumer of news
  • A good writer and editor
  • Resourceful and adept at shifting gears in a fast-paced work environment
  • An eagle-eyed researcher who leaves no stone unturned
  • Eager to learn, teach others what you know and participate in a team with a collaborative style
  • Eager to acquire knowledge of numerous issue areas
  • Able to interact with clients/vendors/teams and define follow-up items and project plans – in turn, developing relationship management skills
  • Someone who wants to use their smarts, exceptional problem solving skills and outstanding attention to detail to make social change
  • Looking to enjoy frequent laughter with wonderful colleagues

What you’ll do at Fenton:

  • Monitor news and social media; compile summaries of coverage
  • Develop pitch angles
  • Pitch to all levels of reporters, editors, producers and bloggers
  • Help build media lists
  • Conduct research on issue areas, online communities, media markets and new business prospects
  • Organize logistics for client meetings, conferences and other events
  • Book talent and speakers for events
  • Aid in developing project and task budgets
  • Help create and edit press releases, advisories, pitch memos, fact sheets, op-eds, online content and other collateral
  • Media monitoring
  • Conduct communications audits and other research using Google, Nexis, Meltwater, TapInfluence and other internet tools
  • Help with landscape and competitive analysis research projects; gather insights to inform campaigns and communications strategies
  • Support communications capacity building and training for clients
  • Provide input on strategies and tactics for communications campaigns and online marketing or advocacy outreach
  • Provide assistance to and coordinate new business proposals and RFPs
  • Create decks using Keynote
  • Participate in new business pitches as assigned
  • Proofread/copy edit documents
