
Job Description:
Katie Couric Media is looking for a Social Media Manager to devise, analyze, and execute a social strategy for our fast-growing brand. This role will collaborate across teams to promote our content which includes pre-recorded video interviews, digital articles, podcasts, branded content, and live video events.
In addition to working with the editorial team, this role will keep in close contact with the marketing/sales and Katie’s Shop teams to ensure all content streams (including e-commerce and affiliate campaigns) are promoted on our channels: Facebook, LinkedIn, and Instagram as well as our founder’s accounts on Twitter and Instagram.
The ideal candidate will have experience with social strategy, a lively and modern editorial voice, out-of-the-box ideas for increasing engagement, and a passion for pioneering a fresh new identity for both the company’s social channels and the founder’s personal accounts. We’d love for this person to maintain and even elevate the current tone across platforms, and address our readers with energy, relevancy, and respect.
The ideal candidate will be well-versed in interpreting social metrics and the latest channel features, changes, and trends, and be meticulous about grammar, spelling, and other vital details. They should be comfortable with pitching concepts for creative activations, creating an editorial social calendar, and analytics reporting.
They should also be plugged into current events and be equally passionate about breaking political news and pop culture. The ideal candidate will be a self-starter who works well independently and has a flexible, adaptable schedule.
Responsibilities:
- Write compelling and effective social media copy that connects with KCM’s audience and sparks engagement
- Maintain a consistent voice and identity across the brand’s and founder’s social channels.
- Create and lead a plan for evaluating performance, setting goals, and understanding how these channels impact the brand’s overall traffic.
- Develop relationships with other brands/creators to generate cross-promotional IG Lives or other activations.
- Partner with editors to develop clever concepts for content that compels click-throughs on our social media platforms.
- Understand the needs and concerns of our core audience—and help us expand our reach beyond that base.
- Collaborate across teams to promote upcoming content.
- Develop and manage a social content calendar.
- Work quickly and on tight deadlines to generate responsive content re: breaking news and cultural moments.
- Relationship management with KCM’s social agency, which strategizes promotion and growth of KCM’s daily email newsletter.
- Strategic skills: Can think through both the long-term plans for growth and engagement, but also deliver excellence in the short term.
Minimum Qualifications:
- 3+ years social media content creation and strategy experience, ideally for an editorial news site and specifically with Facebook, Instagram, and Twitter.
- Demonstrated talent adapting to fast-paced, demanding environments.
- Crisp organizational abilities and impeccable attention to detail specifically when it comes to grammar and proofreading.
- Clever and impactful storytelling abilities.
