Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Communications, Public Relations, Business, or Journalism, MS in Communications, or MBA

 

Term

  • 1 year in length [37.5 hours per week during the summer; 25 hours per week during school year]
  • Internship to begin in May

 

Qualifications

  • Junior (or a Senior planning to pursue a Master’s Degree in the fall)
  • Must be an active student for the entire length of internship

 

Skills

  • Strong writer capable of producing written and multimedia content for various audiences — particularly friendly, approachable copy suitable for web and social media platforms
  • Skilled in photo and video editing software (Adobe Creative Suite) is a plus
  • Passion for human interest story-telling and a clear understanding of what makes “news”
  • Identify and produce stories in fast-paced environment while managing multiple priorities and multiple stakeholders
  • Automotive interest and ability to identify Subaru-lifestyle stories
  • Excellent Microsoft Outlook, PowerPoint, Word, and Excel skills
  • Experience managing and maintaining professional social media accounts

 

Job Description

This position will assist the Corporate Communications Manager and Corporate Social Media Specialist identify traditional news and timely information and develop social media content.  Help manage the social media content calendar and support marketing news-related activities and campaigns.  Generate new and interesting news-focused material for primarily online audiences.

  • Assist with creation and development of content for Subaru of America’s social media platforms (currently including, but not limited to, Facebook, two Twitter feeds, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, and Flickr)
  • Assist with daily community management on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Assist with daily customer service content on Facebook, Twitter, and Instagram
  • Collaborate with various internal and external stakeholders to maximize content opportunities and ensure alignment of efforts
  • Support corporate communications department activities with an eye toward social media content opportunities for both internal and external audiences
  • Support larger-scale blogger/influencer engagement campaigns
  • Assist with maintaining media website, photo, and press release archive
