Marketing Coordinator, NBA on ESPN

Job Summary:

The Marketing Coordinator assists the Marketing Manager and Marketing Director in the development of overall fan marketing and advertising strategies for the NBA on ESPN business, including the critical brand launch of NBA on ESPN and major tentpoles such as Regular Season High Priority games, Playoffs, and Finals. He/She provides support in the execution and implementation of various 360 marketing campaigns, inclusive of TV, radio, digital, PR, and social media. In addition, the Marketing Coordinator will assist the Associate Manager as a key liaison between the fan marketing team and the broader ESPN cross-functional team.

Responsibilities:

  • In collaboration with the Marketing Manager, the Marketing Coordinator is responsible for ideation development and execution of short & long term marketing deliverables, inclusive of the following duties:
    • Managing alignment of fan & brand strategies
    • Planning and executing all creative deliverables and timelines to ensure work is finished, delivered, and trafficked on time (and on budget)
    • Establishing and owning the relationship and production timelines with the internal creative teams
    • Ensuring accuracy and excellence of all work done internally and by creative agencies
    • Provide thought leadership on overarching brand and campaign strategies
  • He/She will assist the Manager with the day-to-day management of the properties. This includes:
    • Providing thought leadership on brand platform strategies and key tentpole approaches
    • Lead execution of marketing materials
    • Working closely with Media on the scheduling of on-channel assets
    • Establishing relationships with key personnel in the marketing department and other business units

Basic Qualifications:

  • 1+ years of related marketing or business experience with an understanding of marketing fundamentals, creative evaluation, and brand strategy development

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Genuine interest and finger on the pulse of cultural news and content relative to the brand essence of the NBA
  • Deep interest in the NBA, players/teams, and up to date on trends
  • Outstanding team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task on a high profile, high volume portfolio
  • Detail-oriented and highly organized self-starter
  • Strong analytical skills and active mind
  • Knowledge and an interest in the evolving media landscape and media consumption habits
  • A healthy appreciation of the role sports play in pop culture
  • Impressive verbal and written skills
  • Positive energy with a ‘can do’ attitude
  • Hunger for learning & making a difference
