Gary Zarr & Associates (GZ&A) is looking for savvy, energetic communications (public relations and social media) interns to help implement new initiatives for our clients and agency. We’re a full-service marketing and public relations agency working with nonprofits, businesses, cultural institutions, and individuals making a positive difference in the world.
We’re looking for bright, dynamic self-starters with a marketing, public relations, or social media background who want to gain professional experience in an agency setting.
This internship is part-time with a flexible start date and work schedules. The position is unpaid; college credit is available.
GZ&A is currently working remotely.
Interns are responsible for:
- Developing media lists and research
- Drafting press releases, media advisories, branded posts, other written material
- Media outreach
- Supporting client events
- Building social communities on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, and other social networks
- Assisting in project management
- Distributing listings to media
Qualified candidates should have:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and organization
- Interest in pursuing a career in public relations, marketing, advertising or related fields
- Experience with social media and/or working with media
- Positive attitude and willingness to be part of a team
Learning Outcomes:
- Understanding of how to craft and deliver a pitch to target media
- Training to research media targets, build media lists, and distribute press releases
- Ability to draft and distribute press releases and media advisories
- Understanding of how to build, create content for, and measure successful social media campaigns
- Training in email marketing software; experience building and monitoring campaigns
- Familiarity with event listings and strategy
- Opportunities to attend client events and interact with media
