Want to break into PR and get some hands on experience from a 20 year veteran? Violet Communications (www.violetpr.com) is seeking a recent college graduate for a paid 15-hour per week internship. Applicants must be based in the New York City metro area, ideally in NYC or NJ.
Client industries include tourism, economic development, media, techology and architecture. Job duties include compiling media lists using Cision, conducting media research online, tracking news coverage for clients, managing social media programs and writing press releases. Savvy interns will also be asked to communicate directly with reporters and participate in client calls and meetings.
The hourly rate/monthly stipend is based on experience. Violet Communications will write letters of recommendation for job applications and assist with portfolios to help successful interns land full time jobs.
Interns will divide their time between working remotely and in-person meetings in South Orange, NJ, and NYC. Hours are flexible, though should be during work hours (M-F, 9am-5pm).

Requirements:
- Significant coursework in public relations and journalism
- Strong writing and organizational ability
- Excellent internet research skills
- Knowledge of Word, Excel, PPT and social media platforms including Facebook and Twitter
- Curiosity and interest in news trends
- Ability to work independently and take initiative
