Description
In Touch and Life & Style weeklies’ press department is looking for bright, talented and enthusiastic interns with a desire to develop a career in public relations and have interest in the entertainment industry. This is a paid, temporary internship (3-6 months starting in December or January) designed to expose successful candidates to all facets of creating buzz and gaining publicity for a celebrity news publication.
Responsibilities
-Helping publicists create and execute a press strategy for each week’s issue.
-Helping to put together press materials.
-Coordinating weekly magazine mailings.
-Updating contact and press databases.
-Transcribing final in-book print to press release format.
-Assisting and accompanying publicists on taped or live TV segments.
-Assisting in the planning of and occasionally attending press events in the New York City area.
Requirements
Ideal candidates should have a broad knowledge of pop culture, a grasp of the magazines’ writing style, and possess a strong work ethic. Excel/Word/Internet proficiency is essential and public relations/media experience is a plus. Applicants should be working toward a Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Mass Communications, Journalism or English and currently living in the New York City or northern New Jersey area. We are located in Englewood Cliffs, NJ – just across the George Washington Bridge. Recent college graduates will also be considered. College credit for the internship is available but not required. The ideal candidate would be able to work 2-3 days a week.
